More new dresses!!

So I suppose I am back on the track!%))
My last post for soooo long time ago, unbelievable! I didn't stop to sew in last July, I only started my sloooow moving from one country to another one, so I didn't have any time for blogging. But I managed to sew a little bit and even made 21 things in 2013 all together! %) I hope to add some of them in my blog, probably in May because I would like to participate in Me-Made-May despite the lack of new made by me clothes.

Next time I will post my plans for 2014 and hope to start sew more and more! I only need to buy iron and mirror, also I need sewing table and ironing board!%))

In spite of  these missing instruments I started to make Birth-Day Dress%)) Last year I make one, but I need to change it a little bit and then it will appear here!%))

Hope this year I will make good dress from first attempt!
I already bought the fabric and choose the pattern! I hope to make muslin in the beginning of the next week and cut the fabric.

Current sewing list

I hope this winter is over so I updated my winter sewing list for something little bit more light.

I decided that I had to concentrate on my stashbusting. To be more exact, on not increasing it%) So I will not buy any new fabric before I finish 5 specific garments. If I finish them I can by one or two pieces of fabric during my May trip. 

So this is my list

Blue dress from Burda 09/2012, facts

February! No sun for ages! I was waiting it to make nice pictures of my new blue dress but I think such opportunity will appear only in March%( I was planning to make some different outfits with the dress so in this post I will write some facts and the next one will be proper pattern review (with or without sun%)

I bought a magazine with a pattern just before my trip to France in last September, I liked the pattern very much so I decided to buy a fabric for this dress during the trip. I saw it in some bright green but when I was in Milan (the last point of my trip) without any fabric for this dress I decided that I should buy anything at all costs! So green turn into blue:)

Then I was choosing a lining very long, then I even made a muslin! This was my first muslin, he-he! I had planned to finish it before New Year but...I have finished it just in January. I tried to make it very accurate, I used french seams for the lining and the bias tape for seam allowance. So it became the first dress of 2013%)

I like it's A-line look. It is very 60's I think%) I found McCall's 2027 pattern which looks pretty similar. The neckline seams to be little bit too wide to my taste but may be this is because I never wear something like this. Also I  like the pockets, they are very cute!

BTW now I know that 100 meters of thread is not enough for such dress so in the future I will buy 200 or 400 meters%)

Facts:

• Fabric:  1.2m wool from Milan, lining - a silk from Russian site, about 1.1 m
• Pattern: Burda magazine 09/2011 105
• Pattern was first, fabric was bought specially for this pattern%)
• Notions: bias for seam-allowances, fusible stay tape, thread
• Time to complete: I started it in end of October 2012, wanted to finish for New Year, have finished in January 2013, I measured pure time for sewing - 16.5 hours, this time is not included tea breaks, looking for technical information and visiting shops for buying notions
• First worn:  9 Feb,2013 in the theater. It looks like I wear my new works only in theaters%)
• Wear again:  Of course, why for I would spend so much time on it%)
• Total cost:  20 euro for fabric + 6.7 euro for silk lining + 4.75 euro for notions + 2 euro for pattern = 33.45 euro

Short report about sewing progress

As always I made pretty big plans, my winter sewing is not a exception!%) I am pretty slow in the execution of my plan. Now I am working on my blue dress, I try to make it almost perfect, he-he!%) I use French seams in my lining also I use bias for the dress's seam allowances. Because of all that my sewing is pretty slow!

But I cannot do one thing for a long time so I've decided to make some very-very short project and have made a home skirt to brighten a little bit gray December! This was my old long-sleeve! I am so happy with my skirt, which is not perfect of course but very funny! I think I should make something in orange stripes for summer, but little bit more accurate%))

Top 5 in my sewing Fall-Winter wish list.

It is little bit later for fall plans but I should post it in any way, just for encouraging and motivating myself%)) So let´s say it is the cold time plan!

I decided not to create too a long list because I know that I can be very sad after not completing it.. But if the list is very long, of course I wouldn´t complete it, I am too slow. Complicated!!!

So....

1. I need to finish some UFO. The first one is grey dress, I started it in the spring then dropped it in the warm times. I need to fix some problems with the darts.

2. Next UFO, very long one. Silk dress, I started it very long ago, it is too difficult for me - difficult fabric, pretty thin and slippery, cut  on the bias, french seams! Ohhh!

3 new projects

Just some short updates%)
3 projects on the sewing table, not at once, but almost at one moment, yes!%) It is too difficult for me to choose always so I just start some projects and then will choose by the mood.

The sewing weekend

It was a nice sewing weekend! I have made a whole lot of things!

• The most important thing - I finished the friend's dress. Also I made shorts for her baby girl from the same fabric. The pictures of the end items will be later and I hope that the dress will fit and I will have the pictures of my friend wearing it. Also I hope the shorts will not become small while our Russian Post deliveries my package with the items(and warm weather will be still there). 
• I shortened my spouse's RTW trousers, I am pretty good in this because with my previous machine this operation was the most frequent one equally with making narrower trousers and shorts%) One time I bought in web 3 pairs of wrong size and had to narrow them, haha! Returning was too expensive from Russia, but now  Semeon wears them and I am an expert in making shorts 2 sizes smaller%)))
• I have made a revision of my pattern magazines.
• I traced the pattern for my next dress(may be I should stop with summer dresses but I cannot!) and read the reviews of this pattern.
• I began to rip a zipper from one my dress at which I should narrow the back, I will write more about this later. I hate to rip and remake something that seams to be ready that´s why this is a big step for me! 
• We made new curtains for our room! Yeap! We had some old stuff from the landlord, I didn't like them, they were too dark and with gold, too serious! So now we have light one! You can see it yourself!

Progress of my current project

So the work is going well! It is almost done!%))) I have only 1 detail instead of 10! Almost ready dress. Very dangerous stage because many my projects stuck at this stage. Hope not this one because my friend is waiting for her dress!

 This is my current project. To be more precise one of many. It will be too long to count all of them%)

This is a dress for my friend, pattern from very old Burda magazine. I made one dress for myself by this pattern and like it very much though it was made with many mistakes. I will tell about this later.

I hope this one will be much better because now I know more about sewing and have more experience too. We will see!
